Psitacosis
Also call fever of papagayo, disease of the birds that affects the respiratory system and that is originated by a stock of the parasitic bacterium Chlamydia psittaci. The psitacosis, that is trasmisible to the human being, frequently considers a labor pathology between criadores of doves, farmers, proprietors of birds and employees of plants of processing of poultries.
The poultries infected by psitacosis can present/display respiratory diarrea, symptoms and weakness, or not show no sign of the disease. The treatment with clortetraciclinas and other tetraciclinas in the food or the water is effective.
The psitacosis is transmitted to the human beings by means of dust particles, the manipulation of infected birds or their bodies and the wounds by puncture. Any case is not known infection only by consumption of the birds; apparently, the responsible agent is destroyed during the baking.
In the man the disease produces chills, fever, pain throat, migraine, loss of appetite, nauseas, vomits and neumonía. For their treatment antibiotics of the type of the tetraciclinas are used.
