Definition:
It is possible to be defined to Acupuncture (acus = needle and punctura = punción) like the insertion of very fine needles in pre-established points specifically (dazzling) on the body of the individual to cure, to produce a certain physiological reaction.
The Veterinary Medicine has listed 32 bilateral simple points and 40, that is 112 points selected possible of being used in Small Animals. Each point of acupuncture has one or several functions when it is stimulated. When being combined with other points results take place that modify the action of the organ to treat. But the inadequate selection of the acupuntos can annul or exacerbar the clinical symptoms to treat.
Beginning
Beginnings of Veterinary Medicine Acupuncture:
In East, acupuncture was used like preventive and therapeutic modality during several thousands of years. More ago than 5000 years back, stone needles and thorns of fish were used. After Age of Stone, the used technology was by means of needles of Bamboo, Jade, Copper, Iron, Gold or Silver.
Thus it is deduced that acupuncture is one of the curativas medical techniques more millenarians than they exist in the world within the medical branches. One thinks that a similar therapy back existed in India about 7000 years.
At the present time the acupuncture needles are of Stainless Steel and/or combinations of other alloy metals. Like thus also of gold, which are used the most experienced experts (in exceptional cases) in special points and to activate specific functions.
Many are the books that have been written on this millenarian science and in them they are had I decipher the physiological, anatomical, pathological mechanisms, diagnoses and of treatment of the diseases that happened in those times.
The Chinese Traditional Medicine classified to the medical professionals in four different disciplines, that is to say:
Doctors, Surgeons, Veterinarios and Dietistas.
These disciplines intercrossed and their practices were superposed, so that a single professional exerted one or more disciplines. Until the western medical philosophies were introduced during the Ching Dynasty (1664 to the 1991), the Chinese Traditional Medicine was the exclusive form of therapy practiced in China.
Within the Chinese Traditional Medicine they were including different techniques, that without being only exerted through needles they could such produce effects that acupuncture. This must to that they have he himself foundation: to act on the meridians, and is here where (within the classification that is detailed next) acupuncture is the technique is most well-known.
Beginning
These techniques consisted of:
* Acupuncture
* Moxibustión (application of heat in the points of acupuncture through the combustion of a called grass Artemisa vulgaris modeled in cone or cigarette form)
* Manipulative therapy or massage
* Respiratory exercises (well-known at the present time like Chi- Gung)
* Nutrition and diet
* Medicine by Grass (or denominated commonly like fitoterapia)
The increasing popularity in 1929 of western the clinical and surgical medicine within China, produced that the Chinese government prohibited the practice of the Chinese Traditional Medicine. But this prohibition was ignored by the Chinese town and produces that the Chinese Traditional Medicine goes underground.
But when the troops of Mao-Tse-Tung were affected of Malaria; the medicine reserves such as the Atabrine and the Quinine were exhausted. This produced that the soldiers of the Red revolutionary army of China fought ineffectively. As resulting from the disease, .la victory for Mao was in danger, and is as well as it met with the medical instructors of the Chinese Traditional Medicine.
These medical instructors (as therefore he were called them to the professionals who exerted the Chinese Traditional Medicine) offered themselves under certain conditions to cure to the army. The condition was: that if the Revolution were won, the Chinese Traditional Medicine would occupy the place of honor in the new Imperial order. And thus it happened. The soldiers recovered in 3 days and when winning the revolution, Mao issued orders so that the medicines old (Eastern) and the modern medicine (Western) received an egalitarian treatment in the education, investigation and practice.
Veterinary acupuncture probably is almost as old as Human acupuncture.
The first Veterinary Medicine medical instructor that was registered, was called Shun Yong lived in the years 480 AC and is considered like the father of the veterinary profession in China.
In those times acupuncture was carried out in horses which were stimulated with arrows before each battle. The governmental veterinarians also treated cows, pigs and birds from the Chow Dynasty to the present times in China.
Japan, also has antecedents registered on Veterinary Acupuncture towards year ends 1800, moment at which was introduced the Western Medicine.
In France, veterinary acupuncture is used from aims of los1700 and beginnings of years 1800. Taking new height in the last 40 years.
In 1979 the World-wide Organization for the Health published her observations on Acupuncture after the carried out Interregional Seminary in Beijing. Thus she was that the World-wide Organization for the Health concluded that: ?the clear weight of the evidences demands that acupuncture is considered seriously like a clinical procedure of substantial value?.
And a compilation was made diseases adapted for the acupuntural treatment, they are that is to say:
* Reproductive disorders
* Muscle-skeletal, pulmonary and digestive affections
* Neurological and dermatological upheavals
These disorders were treated successfully considerable in several species.

Introduction:
During long time, the chronic or producing degenerativas diseases of the chronic pain were of low incidence of treatment. Or by economic factors, so that the patient maintained to a little or null coexistence with the proprietor or by lack of preoccupation or ignorance of the suffering of the mascots. For these cases, the solution commonest of these pathologies was eutanasia.
But the advances in the nutrition and of the Geriatría in Veterinary Medicine caused that the mascots lived many more years. Therefore the debilitating geriatrical states do not appear back in quality and amount like years.
Something similar occurred with the traumatizados young animals, the neurological degenerations or physiological disfunciones, or with the congenital deformations that could cause acute or chronic pain. Not always they were dealed with satisfactorily with surgical and/or medicamentosos procedures the present time.
For this type of situations it is that Acupuncture in the Veterinary Medicine arises, as a new form of treatment.
Beginning
Applications of Acupuncture in the Veterinary Medicine:
The pathologies on which veterinary acupuncture can act multiple and are varied, but they exist a set of them who are those that has greater diffusion. Since by their cronicidad and type of manifestation a famous place has granted him to this alternative therapy. Within this set of organizations to treat, we found those that attend so much is with acute or chronic pain.
In the same way, another group of organizations exists that arise as a result of immunological diseases of the metabolic type or from chronic course, which not necessarily attend with pain.
More common pathologies treated in Veterinary Medicine:
* Lightening of the pain
* Parálisis and Paresias of the later members
* Motor affections of the previous members
* Induction of autonomic nervous answers
* Analgesia in of the acute and chronic pain
* Dérmicas pathologies
* Licked Granulomas by
* Pathologies of tracto gastrointestinal
* Affections muscle - skeletal senile degenerativas or
* Affections of spine
* Syndromes of malabsorción and/or malasimilativo
* Syndrome of renal insufficiency
* Stimulation during the work of the childbirth
* Chronic respiratory disease
Next the image of a canine skeleton can be observed where Triple or Superheater and its route drawn in line are described to some points in letters violet, corresponding to the Function meridian of blue.
Beginning
Interest of the Western Medicine by Acupuncture:
The preoccupation of people in search of new alternatives of treatment for its mascots, has stimulated the veterinary doctors to look for pertinent information the acupunturistas doctors. The obtained favorable results with this therapy have stimulated the curiosity, as well as the distrust of the veterinary organizations. The articles and written on veterinary acupuncture now are accepted by most of publications of the profession. Encounter, seminaries, days and conventions have given importance to the lecturers who have talked about on this discipline.
In 1986, the Committee of studies of Alternative Therapies of American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) began to restore courses of studies of 2 years on acupuncture and to announce the effectiveness of the procedures and protocols that defer from the traditional forms of the surgery and Veterinary Medicine. The committee is in charge to inform findings to the Veterinary Council on watch. This body fulfills the task of establishing if a given modality is adapted as it forms therapeutic Veterinary Medicine alternative, then proposes recommendations to certify or to credit to the professionals in approved techniques to assure its rating.
A Commission conformed specifically for this task recommends the guidelines of acupuncture and their combinations:
Acupuncture and veterinary acuterapia consider valid modalities, but the possibility of the abuse exists. These techniques are due to consider like surgical procedures and/or medical it lowers the laws of state veterinary practice. Before a veterinarian is considered competent for the practice of acupuncture recommends the beginning of detailed educational programs.
The International Veterinary Acupuncture Society (IVAS) was created and regulated in 1974 to actually provide the excellence and in the knowledge with veterinary acupuncture. Like one it divides integral of the system of total veterinary health. This society tries to uniformly establish high patterns of veterinary acupuncture by means of its educative programs and examinations of accreditation. And thus it looks for to integrate to veterinary acupuncture with the practice of western veterinary science. With such aim it is that it demands the approval of courses with a determined hour load to obtain an credited instruction, the taking of ample examinations and the remission of detailed cases in order to receive the certification of the Society. Also this Society has delimited a ethics code that details the obligations of its members general, the commitment of the medical instructor with the patient and the profession, the ethics of the acupunturistas in the commercial subjects and the relations of this one with the public in general when carrying out exhibitions, publicity and to the professor the education, training and experience
In our country, the two institutions of greater reputation than regulate education and accreditation of the acupuntural practice is: the Society Argentina de Acupuntura (SAA) and the Argentine Medical Institute of Acupuntura (IMADA). That with a criterion very similar to the American, they instruct and they enable so much to human doctors as veterinary.
In 1979 the World-wide Organization for the Health published her observations on Acupuncture after the carried out Interregional Seminary in Beijing. Thus she was that the World-wide Organization for the Health reaches the conclusion that acupuncture, certainly is not a panacea for all the diseases. But the clear weight of the presented/displayed scientific evidences at those moments, demands that:
?Acupuncture is considered seriously like a clinical procedure of substantial value?
